Tiny Tidbits

If you follow me on Facebook and Pinterest, you probably see a lot of the little things I like to share that don’t quite merit their own full-length post here on the blog. But, for those of you who don’t stalk me on the social networks, or who may have missed some things, here’s a list of some little things I want to share:

• The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies Ever: We’ve been experimenting with different recipes for years, trying to find the perfect cookie. A chocolate chip cookie should be fluffy, but chewy, soft but sturdy enough to dip in milk without dissolving. I’d seen a pin pop up on Pinterest time after time claiming that corn starch is the secret ingredient for achieving this uber-cookie. I can now confirm that this is true.  The only downside is that the dough is also quite fluffy, and I prefer a nice, dense dough for eating raw. Some of you may like the fluffy dough (to each her own). If you’re concerned about raw eggs, we used the Thrive powdered whole eggs (with an extra teaspoon of water), and still got cookies that MiniDork deemed “Fantastic!” and “The best cookies ever!”
• Fabric.com Customer Service: I’ve ordered twice from Fabric.com. And, unfortunately, both times one of the fabrics I received did not match my order. However, they’ve been very good about quickly sending me the proper fabric. And, since I’m in Canada, they’ve even let me keep the fabric sent in error, rather than go to the hassle of returning it. That’s excellent customer service in my opinion. Now I’ve got an extra two yards of soft, luxurious minky I can use for baby projects while I wait for the proper minky to arrive (for a blanket I’m making myself to go in my fabulous nursing chair).
• Geek Parent Pride: ManDork has been telling MiniDork the story of The Hobbit. She’s completely enamored with Bilbo Baggins, requests we show her our model Sting every night (so she can see that it’s not glowing which = no monsters), and in addition to constantly requesting we sing her the Misty Mountains from the new movie, has also been heard singing it herself.
• Uneventful Pregnancy: I’m still good. Baby’s good. Nothing new to report.
