I included:
- 1 toothbrush
- 1 baggy of flossers/toothpicks
- 2 fruit leathers
- 5 bags of fruit snacks
- 4 granola bars
- 1 eye mask
- 1 book light {that matches the eye mask}
- 1 novel
- 2 mini cans of ginger ale
- 1 decorated pack of gum
- 1 decorated chapstick
- 1 puffy box with 5 Wint-o-greens, 1 Lindt, and 1 mini candy cane
- 1 bottle of water with a cute pouch for a single serving lemon-lime Crystal Light pack
{I used Christmas scrapbook paper and clear vinyl to decorate the gum, water bottle and chapstick. Be sure to click on the links to find the tutorials I used to make the puffy box and the bottle tag pouch. I did the bottle pouch a little bit differently because I didn’t have all the same supplies but generally it was the same.}
It was a fun and easy project. I’m looking forward to seeing my house guests’ reactions. Come back tomorrow for another picture for the December Photo Challenge. And tell me in the comments what your own ideas are for making guests feel special/welcome.
Let me just say, I want to come stay at your house. I feel like a bad hostess after reading your post. I usually just say "help yourself to anything," and make sure each guest has clean linens and towels. You're my houseguest hero.
ReplyDeleteI have a girlfriend that always has these baskets in the guest room and I absolutely adore her for it! It's a great idea!
ReplyDeleteWow, you rock! I just try to be sure they have enough pillows :)
ReplyDeleteYou're such a good hostess! I don't even have a matching sheet set in our guest room!
ReplyDeleteLauren,
ReplyDeleteNo matching sheet sets here either! lol These little baskets cost lest than getting new bed linens. :)
All those stockpiled sample items would be great for this project. My guests usually only have the honor of getting the fluffiest pillow, the wash cloths with no Kool-Aid stains, and the towels with no lint balls stuck or knotted into the fringe.Otherwise, the live like me while they're here, LOL

SWEET WORK! It makes me want to be a guest at your house long enough to earn the priviledge of one.
ReplyDeleteVery Cute! I have done something similar with body wash, tooth brush, etc. but nothing this elaborate...fabulous job!
ReplyDeleteWow. I barely even have the sheets on the bed when my FIL comes to visit!
ReplyDeleteMy dad's girlfriend (now my stepmom) did something similar for us when we first went to visit him after my parents split (we were on opposite coasts so it had been 6 or so months since the split). Honestly, as a 15 year old girl & 11 year old boy, my brother and I thought it was a little strange. But then, we were teenagers, we thought most things were strange. :)
What a nice surprise for your guests. I like to be sure to have lots of clean towels on hand, a scented candle and matches by the bed, fresh flowers in the room and a fresh baked treat.
ReplyDeleteThis is a FAB idea. If/when we more space for a guest room I'd love to put together something like this...maybe our next home? ;)
ReplyDeleteVisiting from SITS Sharefest - have a GREAT weekend!!
Karen,
ReplyDeleteI like the candle idea. That's smart!
Super cute idea :) I love all the thoughtfulness you put into these!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. Thanks for sharing. happy sits saturday
ReplyDeleteI am coming to your house!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea!! Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love the "Almost everything is a dollar" store!
Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest!
great idea...
ReplyDeleteis there also a list of the goodies with outrageous prices listed next to it like in a hotel? (just joshin')
Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest
What a great idea! Usually if we have company, I give them a clean towel and assume that's enough. I'll keep the gift basket in mind for sure.
ReplyDeleteHappy SITS Saturday Sharefest!
Christy,
ReplyDeleteHa ha! Maybe I should set up a mini-bar!
What a great idea! I do a drawer in the bathroom with toiletries. This idea for the guest room will be a great thing to add for guests.
